Episode 5: Kshama Sawant & Electoral Politics prelude

sawant

For Episodes 5 and 6 we’re going to focus on electoral politics in the US. The bulk of this episode is a talk by Kshama Sawant, who ran for the Washington State House of Representatives in the fall of 2012, winning 28% of the vote. Kshama’s talk is pretty interesting and gives a good introduction to independent politics in the United States, though Black Sheep might disagree on a few of the finer points. Either way, its a good talk and it was a really cool campaign to see come together–we’d definitely like to see more like it.

Andy interviewed Kshama back in November when she was working on her campaign, which you can find at The North Star.

’til next time…
